We had a rent house next door, 136 Taft. We sold part of the land it was on. The house was not worth a lot. So in about thirty minutes, it was bulldozed, and pushed into a pile. I got to witness it burn. At a hundred feet, it was hurting my skin it was so hot.
The home was a wood frame home, a 1 BR 1 Bath, not really big maybe 600 square feet. We could have moved it, but economically, it was not really a profitable proposition. It was in bad shape.
It burned up in about thirty minutes. It struck me, how things take so long to make, to build... and how quickly, and easily, they are destroyed. Manmade things are fragile. People are fragile. Relationships are fragile.
My father was like this house. After they discovered what was wrong, he was dead in less than 6 months.
Things fall apart far too easily, especially when it takes so long to build them up.
